The later Malvern Conference, held at the height of World War II, is regarded as hugely influential and progressive and forward-looking in laying the foundations for Britain's postwar Welfare State generally and was (mostly) wholeheartedly and enthusiastically supported by Eliot, probably as implementing some of his ideas about a 'Christian Society'

The Lambeth Conference and the controversy over the theology of contraception were in comparison pretty peripheral sideshows.
