Still high water on and around the refuge today. Road through to the interior still closed as is the one to South Pool, and the Silver Lake spillway. Saw two Mississippi Kites flying around over Hog Ridge Road and the open wetland west of refuge. Two adult Sandhill Cranes were feeding along a pool in the middle of the refuge, just south of the new DU units. Two Ring-billed Gulls lingering in that area also, as well as couple dozen Pelicans, and a few DC Cormorants. Twenty Great Egrets were in the pool south of the north gate.Water was still pouring into Swan Lake marsh from the south and Yellow Creek. Glad to see a drier forecast for the next several days, Maybe things will settle down.
