I birded Long Branch Lake and SP today and got a little over 40 species.
Some highlights: 2 Franklin's gulls mixed in with couple hundred
ring-billed, a lone Red-breasted Merganser, 8 species of sparrows including
a FOY Vesper sparrow along Little Chariton Prairie Trail. Field sparrows
were singing their hearts off. There was a controlled burn of the prairie
west if the park road.
Three Common Loons were vocalizing at Thousand Hill SP Monday, March 30.
Was really cool to listen to them.
Nice to be out in the wild,
Peter
