We were in St Louis last week and had dinner at the Creve Couer Lakehouse Restaurant.  They have purple martin houses along the lake shore and the martins were very actively feeding their young.  There’s several benches along the sidewalk, where you can sit and watch.  For those of you interested in photography, evening is best, with the light behind you.  Photos can be found at:

There was also a mature bald eagle on the far side of the lake, which first landed in a tree and then spent time on the ground along the far shore.  Not sure whether it was just getting a drink or doing something else.
