Have been looking carefully in the pine grove at Busch where they were so regular much of this past year. No sign of them that I know of since the end of April.

Just a friendly reminder.  If you get a chance to check pines or places that have old cedars (like cemeteries, parks) for nesting RBN.  All migrants should have passed through now.

Apparently they are breeding in Wichita.

Thanks.

Thanks.  Spot on.  All of us might want to visit pineries (if you are in the south) or if you have a cemetery with conifers or a neighborhood with planted pines that would be good places to check out.

I'm passing on a reminder from Mark Robbins that in a major year for Red-breasted Nuthatch like this one, with many birds continuing well into May, it's possible that a few of them may pair up and nest in Missouri. This has been confirmed at least twice before (see Mark's book, The Status and Distribution of Birds in Missouri), so keep an eye out for signs of it.
