Fifteen of us gathered on this very fine, clear morning at Hampton Lake in Busch CA, St. Charles Co. Our primary areas for birding were that lake, the visitor center area including the feeders, the beginning of the Fallen Oak Trail, Lake 33, and the "Lake 33 wetlands" which did indeed hold a fair amount of water.

Some highlights were a handful of Red-breasted Nuthatches (5 or more), a Merlin soaring overhead, bluebirds, waxwings, three adult Bald Eagles, two Sharp-shinned Hawks, a Horned Grebe, a Bonaparte's Gull, and (for Busch) a good variety of ducks that included Gadwall, Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Ring-necked, Lesser Scaup, Ruddy, and Hooded Merganser.

Our total was 51 species, and our list is here: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S49740432. I have shared directly with those who I know have eBird accounts.

Thanks to all for coming out!
