I found a surprising variety of shorebirds today in and around the small puddles from the recent dirt work for the new wetland/grassland complex that is in progress at Swan Lake NWR. These included -
1 Least Sandpiper
1 Spotted Sandpiper
1 Pectoral Sandpiper
2 Baird's Sandpiper
2 Upland Sandpipers
2 Wilson's Snipe
4 Lesser Yellowlegs
6 Killdeer

Lots of Horned Lark there too ,a few Bobolinks, and a flock of 10 -12 Dickcissels  Some other flocks of birds observed on the refuge-

4 Green-winged Teal
12 Great Egret
15 Bobwhite
25 Wild Turkey
30 Canada Geese
32 Baird's Sandpiper - at Taylor Point on north side of Silver Lake
40 Blue-winged Teal  -          "       "
250+ White Pelican  -            "      "

Enjoyed the cool 69 degree day, but got NO rain here. Bummer!
