Thank you, Nancy. I’m in a better place than I was a few weeks ago when it happened, but it has me questioning life. Why do we live to 80 or more and they only live to 12. The three of us were living a happy, comfortable life. Just too cruel. Anyway, your photo of Marina was breathtaking. Maybe we will do a side trip to Maine.

Dear Kate,

I also want to say how sorry I am about your dog. It is a deeply sad loss.

Best wishes,

How cute is this!!!! Our Mimi is just too much in our hearts, in our house, for another pooch right now.  Perhaps after the summer trip  . . . . .  We have lived in Southwest Florida now for 20 years though I grew up in Massachusetts.  We have explored the South extensively the last few years and won't linger there, but our first stop will be Saint Augustine.  My husband loves this city.  Our next stop won't be that far away, Savannah, one of my favorites.  We will then do a push to Ocean City, Maryland, a kind of fun locale that we have great memories of from a past visit.  After that, the torture, to get through the DC area, the toxic NJ Turnpike and NY.  We will breathe a big sigh of relief when we make that turn into Connecticut.  We will linger there to explore the Wallace Stevens sites, including Elizabeth Park.    Then, MA which also means Family.  I am from the North Shore area and my husband's family also, so Gloucester and Cape Ann are situated in that area.   We were talking just last night of that road from Beverly to Beverly Farms, the long windy hill, with the mysterious women's college located thereon.  I don't think that we will do Maine this time, Nancy, but Portland is amazing!  My best friend from childhood resides in Maine and her daughter actually lives in Portland.

Sympathy Kate for your loss.  I am the second Westie in this household.  As Murph suggests...puppy.
