That is an awesome CBC tally for the area. Great!

Mark Robbin, the coordinator for Four Rivers CBC, just added another highlight of 14 Dec 2016 count.

The 7 species of owl is almost certainly a first for a CBC in Missouri: barn owl, Eastern screech-owl, great horned owl, barred owl, long-eared owl, short-eared owl, and northern saw-whet owl.

Good morning,

We ended up with a record high species count, not only for 4 Rivers CBC, but an all time high count for Missouri!  An astounding 112 species!

Highlights included, first count records for Am. Woodcock & Bonaparte‚Äôs Gull.  2nd records for Great Egret, Inca Dove, and N. Saw-whet Owl.  3rd for Eastern Phoebe & Sedge Wren.

Of course, the dearth of Red-headed Woodpeckers was quite noteworthy.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone for making this a highly successful count!

Happy Holidays,

Mark Robbins
4-Rivers CBC coordinator
