The CAS Wednesday birding car went to James A. Reed CA, Maple Leaf CA, and Pape Lake (Concordia) today.

We found 41 species at Reed, including one Harris's Sparrow. American Robins were especially plentiful. Some Juncos are lingering. Two pairs of Wood Ducks were seen. Brown Thrashers were competing with Northern Cardinals for "best vocalist" award. A couple Ruby-crowned Kinglets and a Northern Parula joined some Yellow-rumped Warblers to brighten the day.

Maple Leaf was pretty slow. White-crowned Sparrows were cavorting.

At Pape, a Solitary Sandpiper and a Red-breasted Merganser were surprises among the 33 species seen.
