Took a trip with another couple to Mingo for New Year's Day. Left the house at 5 am and was at the visitor center before 7am. The first bird of the year was an eagle at 7:02am.
Saw 43 species in a little over 7 hours.
Greater white fronted, Canada and cackling geese
One solitary wood duck
Gadwall, mallard, shoveler, ring neck ducks
Lesser scalp, pied bill grebe
33 turkey vulture roosting in two different trees. One black vulture flying.
8 Bald Eagle, red tail and Cooper's hawks. A kestrel eating a frog. A couple harriers.
Woodpeckers everywhere.

Did a quick hour at Otter Slough where we observed 17 species. Tens of thousands of snow geese. 4 more Eagles.

A nice start to the year.
