Yes, and Wilson regretted giving TSE so much to drink: he compared it to damaging fine china, or words to that effect. TSE was just about to sail for the UK, and might well have been hung over. 

TSE was perfectly capable of downing 3 or more martinis in quick succession, and of holding his liquor pretty well.
