Lots of water at Swan Lake NWR, Chariton Co. Mo. The east gate was closed as was the spillway at the south end of Silver Lake and the low water crossing down to South Pool. All other roads are open.
I observed 28 Black Terns feeding over one of the flooded moist soil units, one Bald Eagle, 40+ DC Cormorants and 60 + White Pelicans on Swan Lake, a dozen or so each of Great Egrets and GB Herons, one Spotted Sandpiper along edge of Silver Lake - even though all the rocks were under water - and No mudflats anywhere. Swan Lake is almost all covered with a bazillion American Lotus pads and blooms.
