Northeast Modern Language Association Convention (NeMLA)

March 17-20, 2016, Hartford, CT

CFP: Beyond Döner: Teaching Multiculturalism in the Lower-division German
Classroom (Panel)

Multiculturalism is a topic of ever-increasing interest in German Studies
scholarship, upper-division undergraduate- and graduate-level coursework.
And yet, the topic is often given short shrift in beginning- and
intermediate-level German language teaching. We invite proposals for papers
addressing innovative approaches to exploring the realities and discourses
surrounding cultural and ethnic diversity of German-speaking countries in
the lower-division German classroom. Diverse disciplinary perspectives from
literature, linguistics, and cultural studies are encouraged.

Please submit a 250-300 word abstract through the NeMLA website using the
following link: http://www.cfplist.com//nemla/Home/S/15806. The deadline
for submissions is *September 30, 2015*. Please contact Amanda Randall (
[log in to unmask]) or Holly Brining ([log in to unmask]) with questions or
for further information.
