Interesting. I noticed about a dozen Common Grackles for the first time in yard as well; they were mixed in with Starlings.  I also have heard reports from others.   Here’s a picture:

Grackles - first day I've seen them on the ground at my seed.  I've had seven hen Turkeys outside the kitchen at least twice a day for several weeks so the seed is there for them and remnant Juncos and Whitethroated  Sparrows but the Grackles were a surprise.  I hope they don't bring the rest of the hoard - perhaps they'll be survivalists and keep it a secret for themselves!
Happy yard birding to all - Mariel
