Frank Holmes had a 2nd cyc GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL
at Horseshoe Lake SP, Madison co, IL

http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S21709328

Different bird than Josh's or same one?

Riverlands MBS late in the day.
Gulls were on the ice in Heron Pond this afternoon/evening
but heat distortion was so bad it was difficult pulling out
different species. Did eventually find an adult LBBG and a 1st cyc Glaucous.
Also MIGHT have had 2, non adult Black-backed type gulls standing together
out in front of the main gull mix. One MIGHT have been bigger than the
other
but the heat distortion prevented positive ID.

MAYBE going to Columbia Bottom CA out to the River confluence
observation deck and walking a trail to the right to get closer to
the gulls is a better bet if one can't get out super early in the AM.
Dunno' for sure.
Do know the heat distortion made birding a challenge so early birding
might be a good idea.

good birding,

St. Louis co.
