Mary J. of the community just north of KK Highway and west of S. Scott Blvd in Columbia, Boone County called about 2 pm today and reported two adult and one immature Trumpeter Swans on Sapp Lake between Thornbrook Ridge and Thornbrook Terrace.  She mentioned there is a cement walk/run sidewalk than goes along the S. Scott and loops to the west over the levee of the dam to the lake where the swans are visible.

This is Smithville Lake we're talking about?  I looked at MoBirds archives for a posting from Mary but did not see one.  Sorry to bother you again!   Thanks!

Hi Karen, I was at the north side of the dam and I took the path by the big rock down to the point, past the trees and I got a good look at the swimming beach area off to the left on the opposite shore and that's where I saw the long-tailed duck.

Hi, Ruth.   Where was the Long-tailed duck found?  May be worth chasing!

Hope you're well and enjoying this great weather, while it lasts!

While searching for the Glaucous Gull that Mary Nemecek found yesterday afternoon, I saw a female Long-tailed duck. It was with Common Goldeneyes. Perhaps the same one that Nancy Leo found? I could not find the Glaucous, just Ring-billed and Herrings in the time before work.
