Actually, the boundary didn't change; the river channel did. http://www.sos.mo.gov/library/reference/orders/1983/pdf/eo1983_007.pdf.

If you want some crazy ones look at the Iowa-Nebraska border someday. The only way to Carter Lake, Iowa is through Omaha, Nebraska. I suspect the dataset that Google used for Riverlands is just really old.

Imagine! A boundary line changed and no shots were fired. I suspect it's something only the ABA would care about.

I think someone from eBird needs to speak to this and what map they use. On eBird, this location is a MO location.

We have had this discussion before. Al is correct. The sign for the state line is along the spur road leading to the lot below the dam. The maps may be based on historic location. All the water below the dam is in Illinois. Alas and alack!

Al, the map you link to says approximate state line. If you do a search online and/or look at any other map (google, delorme, etc.), the state line is way out past the parking lot. And the bird is on the MO side. I say report the bird as you see fit.

Not to burst your bubble but us MO birders got screwed when they built the dam by moving the state line to the middle of Spillway Marsh. Something about not wanting to deal with construction workers unions from both states.

The dam parking lot and half of land below spillway is in Illinois. The state sign is about half way across Mable Island Road to the dame parking. This area is all in RMBS including across the river but not all in MO.

This shows the state line on page 2.
