Eight Trumpeters bedded down in center of large corn field: 33 north out of Kearney (Clay Co.) to 162nd street (across from concrete plant), about a quarter mile west, on the right. We parked in a driveway that borders the cornfield, but a scope is definitely needed for detail. Didn’t see any bands on the necks that were raised. Most were sleeping. 162nd is a fast road with no shoulders. Might have a better view at the nursery on the left side of 33, but the swans seem to know how to get the most far away from any point.
