I often play the game that a genie gave me three wishes and have decided that one of them would be spent on seeing Missouri prior to European settlement.  Maybe in a parallel universe.

And that is one of the biggest draw for birders--mysteries, questions to answer, so much to learn and experience firsthand.

As Ruth noted about the time it will take for conditions to be right for Red-cockaded Woodpeckers again in Missouri, much will still be unknown or unresolved when we are no longer active, but meanwhile, the journey is one heck of a ride through the mosaic of a world of natural wonderment.
