I agree, definitely a Barred Owl.  And I was at Eagle Bluffs Tuesday afternoon late, and heard a Barred Owl call, though I didn't see it.  Could have been yours again.

Lori, you are right, it is a very light Barred Owl.  A couple of clues:  note streaking on breast--good for barred; Barn Owl has spots.  And note shape of facial disk, Barred is more rounded (as is this bird); Barn is more heart-shaped.

Thanks for sharing.

Subject: Barred owl at EBCA

Frank and I took a fast drive thru Eagle Bluffs today at 2 pm.  We saw the usual but when leaving I caught a glimpse, I said, 'Back up it's an owl!!'  We backed up and I took a couple videos and photos.  At first I thought it was a barn owl.  When I watched the videos it looked more like a really light barred owl.  So... I would like everyone's opinion.  It's a really light barred owl right?

Thanks for your thoughts,
