This count from the refuge which was actually done yesterday 11-25. The Interior of the refuge is closed, but other parts can still be viewed from roads around it.

Might want to check out Squaw Creek NWR count from yesterday also - just google it. Larry Lade and I were there yesterday and observed over 300 Trumpeter Swans, plus good variety of other Waterfowl, and lots of Eagles and Hawks. Staff there reported 8 Sandhill Cranes and an Ibis, which we did not see.

Subject: Swan Lake Bird Counts

Here are the numbers from the MDC Aerial Count of Swan Lake NWR conducted Monday Morning (11-18)

 120,000 Ducks, 22 trumpeters, 100 coots, 101 eagles

With more water freezing those numbers have decreased since the count Monday.

Thanks,
