Here in Jefferson City (Cole county) we normally get our first Junco report between the 2nd and 5th of October. (this is based on looking at our records only the last three years). And the early reports, plus my own sightings, are almost always one bird alone and not in a flock. Dark-eyed Juncos are a regular at our annual Big Sit Bird count here in Jefferson City. Good to know they are arriving! I have not seen one yet this year but will keep looking.
