I think we've probably all seen enough emails like these to recognize them as scams, coming from our friends' email addresses but not really from our friends themselves. I've informed the sender that his email account has likely been compromised and have taken steps to block any further scam email from that account reaching the list, but you may still get email directly. My advice would be to delete and move on.
