Margo -- The London-based Media Legal Defence Initiative has a pro bono network of lawyers around the world and provides support to many cases.

Also, in Latin America, the OAS Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression will take cases against the media to the InterAmerican court system. (The rapporteur, Catalina Botero, will be speaking at the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Rio.)

Let us know what other resources you find. We'd like to start a legal resources page on GIJN.org. Best,

Dave

Dear all,
in the Netherlands, there is a small fund that reporters can turn to for some financial support to get legal councelling when being sued over a story. That fund doesn't extend to sources being sued over a story.

Does any of you know whether there is an international fund a source can turn to for some financial support to get legal assistance when being sued over a cross border story?

thanks!
