Dear birders,

Please consider joining us at Weston Bend State Park for Wings Over Weston, this Saturday, from 9AM to 3PM.  Weston Bend State Park is part of the Iatan/Weston River Corridor IBA.  Weston Bend State Park contains 1,360 acres of bottomland forest – the largest surviving tract of bottomland forest along the entire Missouri River.  It’s no mystery why so many warblers and neo-tropical migrants stop there during migration.  Today, while doing some prep work for Wings Over Weston, we had 15 species of songbirds in 10 minutes while standing in one spot!  The weather is going to be beautiful – 60’s and sunny!

If you have nieces, nephews, kids, or grandkids, consider bringing them to this wonderful festival that opens up the world of birding to children.  We teach them about birds, migration, and conservation of habitat through 25 interactive booths.  Or, come by yourself to bird.  Missouri River Bird Observatory will be banding birds, Operation Wildlife will be showing rescued and rehabilitated birds of prey, the bluegrass tornadoes will be playing bluegrass, and Gary’s on the Go and Tropical Sno will be serving refreshments.

We can’t wait to see you!
