Took the dog out for a walk this morning; positively balmy out. At Bella
Fontaine County Park, there were cowbird scouts perched in the highest
trees, watching for early nest builders. At North Riverfront Park there was
a flock of w. pelicans on the park pond. Between there and Columbia Bottom
CA, there was a pair of turkey vultures soaring off the bluff over the StL
city waterworks. At Columbia Bottom: larks, horned & meadow; clouds of
blackbirds. Ducks: shoveler, blue- & green-winged teal, mallards, 1 scaup,
small flock of coot. 1 red-tail hawk, at least 1 n. harrier. At the
confluence overlook, pelican were flying low, right over the overlook;
closest i've ever been to them.
