The Red Crossbills were seen this morning from 9:38-9:43 before they flew away when a flock of Common Grackles arrived. I can’t tell you how exciting it was, after about four previous tries, to finally get to see, and really have time and good lighting to study, these birds. There were four males and one female in the flock.

 

Again, they are coming to a second floor feeder located on the east side, near the south end of the building, of Lee Elementary School in Columbia, Boone County.
