Eearler this week I was watching a bird that seemed to be amazingly white overall. It was a starling with a new set of feathers each with a white tip. As the feathers wear, they will make the bird seem darker and darker. 
 
The Cornell lab page describes them as....in fresh winter plumage they are brown, covered in brilliant white spots .....
 
Any other suggestions, anyone?
