Marge, All;

Sorry so late in response. Here is a link to a great deal of information on helping swifts in a variety of ways, including structurally. An old colleague of mine volunteers with this program and she is great with Swifties.

Cole Camp City Hall plans to put a cap of some sort over the Chimney Swift roost site after the birds migrate.  They say that the rain is coming in and degrading the brick.  The structure is pretty old, and I don't have a way to investigate this argument.  In any case, they are willing to install a sort of umbrella structure over the opening so that the rain would be diverted but the chimney would still be open.

Does anyone out there  know if the Swifts would continue to use the chimney with a covering?  Anyone run across this problem before?

Thanks for any help you can give.
