Wow! Wish I had been with him. That would be "new Missouri bird" for me. I drove the auto tour loop this morning and went by Pintail Pool and did see a smattering of shorebirds, yellowlegs, semipalm sands and some white-rumps but no curlew. Of course, the birds were on the distant shore (far west side) so I did not get really good looks. I imagine the staff person drove into that area which is restricted to the average visitor to the refuge.
