On April 7th, I observed 2 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers (STFL) coming out of
Drainage ditch # 2 on Stoddard County Rd 725 about 1/4 mile north of hwy Z
intersection. The surrounding fields very dry. They may have been in the
ditch for water, or insects.
On the 9th John stopped the tractor to let 4 young Killdeer Plovers move out
of the way. He calls them fuzz balls on legs at this stage.
Lots of killdeer nesting and showing defencive behavior, especially along the
gravel roads. Hazardous nesting.
