Rio Grande Valley birders probably remember Harold Burgess, who died 2 days
ago. He was a long time Valley birder, naturalist, volunteer at Santa Ana
NWR with thousands of Volunteer hours, and faithful CBC participant. He
did census counts at Santa Ana for many many years! He worked most of
his life for the USFWS. He was also president of the National Whooping
Crane Society for many years and gave many speeches about the endangered
Whooping Cranes. This was his passion in the past years. He
received many awards over the years for his hours of volunteerism.
A small memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. at
his home in Weslaco, TX.
