Recently a red tailed hawk with both eyes covered with a growth was found at Litzsinger Road Ecology Center in Ladue. It was taken to Wild Bird Rehab for evaluation, found to be severely malnourished and put down. I have seen eye disease in Finches and Cardinals, but never in a raptor. Is this common? Highly communicable? Thanks, email me off line.
