Went to RMBS this morning with some out-of-towners for whom I had found an ETS flock on Wiedey Rd off Hwy 94.   Heron Pond had nine Trumpeters.  Also present were 5 Long-billed Dowitchers and 1 Dunlin plus numerous ducks including 2 Redheads, some Green Wings and mobs of Mallards.   Heron Pond is being filled for the winter waterfowl refuge and shore bird habitat is disappearing quickly.

Out in Ellis Bay was a flock of a few hundred birds:
Horned Grebes 8
Red-headed Ducks 4
Blue-winged Teal – 6
Northern Shoveler - 4
and Ruddy Ducks, Ring-necked Ducks, Scaup, Gadwall all too numerous to count, plus a zillion Coots.

Received a message this morning from the RMBS staff that there were 6 Trumpeter Swans at RMBS, 4 in Ellis Bay and 2 in Heron Pond.  This date is about one week later than last year.

Saw the same birds that Bryan did at Creve Coeur Lake this morning including Canvasback, Red-breasted Mergansers, and at least 6 Bonabarte's Gulls, but did not see the Common Loons.  There was one Greater White-fronted Goose sitting in the middle of the 2000+ duck raft (not counting hundreds of coots).   Also had a Horned Lark at the soccer fields and 2 Tree Swallows over the lake.

Went to Busch and found Al Smith's Common Gallinule still at Hampton Lake.  Also saw 4 Snipe on the shore behind the Gallinule and an Eastern Phoebe.  Went on to Lake 33 and many of the same ducks at Creve Coeur were there including Horned Grebes, one Bonaparte's Gull, and D-C Cormorants.   Had a Greater Yellow-legs on the S/W end of the lake.
