When the pelagics were being planned by Jim and I for the SLAS, it was briefly considered but quickly (!) dismissed. The RENTED boats get pretty trashed out enough as it is with regular popcorn and bread crumbs scattered from stem to stern. Don't think castor oil needs to be brought into the mix unless the participants wish to help pay for a hefty clean-up bill for each boat. The regular popcorn and bread draws in a pretty big crowd as it is including those that don't even go for the carb ladened chum. They come just to see what's all the ruckus. Highlights of birds seen very close to the boats: Red & Red-necked Phalaropes; 2 species of jaegers, Sabine's Gulls plus 5/6 other species of gulls...to name a few. (for details, please see Dan Kassebaum's website for records seen on the dates during the pelagics) Of course, since it is being run by others now, it is solely up to them.
