Mobirders,

CACHE Phase VII is underway with a new set of target areas.  You'll recognize some old favorites on the list and some new sites--places you may have been, but they've never been target sites before.

There is a pretty good spread, geographically.  There is good variety in types of habitats to be found among them.  There is also a wide spread of the completeness of the area checklist.  Three have more than 200 species already on the checklist, but lack good seasonal representation of trip reports.  A couple have well below 100 species on the checklist (Locust Creek has only 20 species, the product of 2 trip reports--so a real challenge there!), and Wah-Kon-tah Prairie has 54 species to date.  Hi Lonesome Prairie has a 90 species checklist, and Perry County CL has 95.  The remainder have between 103 species (Reform) and 185 (Little Dixie Lake).

So, the challenges are different, depending on the site.  Some need visits anytime; others need some time-specific visits.  I'll continue to post 2-week updates for where birding trips will really help the data base. These will include the new target areas and some of the former targets, as well as current and former focused state parks.

The list of SPARKS focus parks remains the same.  It appears below the new CACHE sites.
