Went to check water level at Columbia Bottom this afternoon. Most of the
fluddles have refilled after the last 2 nights. Moorhen was refound a bit
farther east along the gravel road, between lots R & Q, east of the
water-gate but before the "dip in the road" sign. There's a small,
stand-alone clump of reeds (NOT cat-tails) fairly close to the road -- under
20 yards? Moorhen was scrabbling around the base of the plants. Also
seen: horned & meadowlark, dickcissel, redwing BBs, many great & snowy egret
& little blue heron, one each deer, wild turkey, coyote, off-color mallard
drake. Bobwhite heard, orioles heard but not seen.
