There were at least nine Horned Grebes, several in breeding plumage, on Creve Coeur Lake St Louis County early this afternoon.  Many Ruddy Ducks, one drake with the bright blue bill indicating he was ready for spring.  No loons that I could see, and visibility was good..

In Tower Grove Park St Louis City Tuesday, three Wood Duck pairs were swimming in the main pond by The Ruins.  Three Great Horned Owlets, two leaning on each other on one branch of a big pine a tad west if the stables, while an older brother or sister was on a nearby branch and mom or dad was keeping an eye on them in the next tree over.
