This morning my Mom and I left for Saline County. We hit quite a few conservation areas north of I-70. Grand Pass had an estimated 40,000 snow geese. With numbers this large its really hard to say.
They were so far out it was hard to find any Ross's but we did spot 3. Large numbers of ducks were around (A few Common Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Blue&Green-winged Teals, Hooded Mergansers,
with lots of Northern Pintails, Northern Shovelers, Gadwalls, Mallards, , as well as Coots, Pelicans, White-crowned Sparrows, Killdeer, Red-tailed Hawks & Eagles). Grand Pass still had patches if ice
and snow. As we headed south the temperature went up 10 degrees as soon as we left the river bottoms. At Blind Pony
Lake CA we found some Rusty Blackbirds. The Finney Creek at Blue Lick CA
was flooded so we could only see some of it. But we found some Brewer's Blackbirds and a Brown Creeper. Mom will post full lists later including a couple other sites we visited.
