Jo Ann, perhaps, it was getting past your regular bedtime!

Were you staying up hoping to add some owls to your year list! ;-)

Steve's Orange-crowned Warbler reminded me of something I
didn't take time to report last week. I believe it was last Wednesday, the 5th
of Jan., that I was so surprised to see a Yellow-rumped Warbler (just one)
near our wooded lot here in Kearney. It was probably in the 1990's
when we had 5 that stayed late in December feeding on the Bayberry bushes
next to the east side of house. When the berries were gone, so were the
  warblers.

An Orange-crowned Warbler showed up at my backyard feeders at 5 O'clock
this evening. It moved around from the Sunflower, to the Finch Seed, and to
the Peanut feeder. I had been watching last couple days with the Cold and
Snow for something different, but had only seen the regulars until this
little guy came in. Not near as rare as a Golden-crowned Sparrow! - but
pretty unusual for North Mo. in January!  Hope it survives - supposed
to be -20 WC by morning!

So now I have seen two other Warblers for
    the Year before any Yellow-rumps!

Keep watching those
    feeders!
