Lest we allow the east side of the state to have all the larid fun...  
On a quick evening drive around Smithville Lake (Clay/Clinton Co.), I  
ran into Doug Willis at the dam, who pointed out a 1st cycle THAYER'S  
GULL that he first spotted a few days ago. It was hanging out with  
Herring Gulls near the south end of the dam. There were a few hundred  
gulls, mostly on the lake near the dam. The marinas were pretty quiet.
