Hi: I just spoke with Dave Easterla a few minutes
ago. He observed the harlequin duck two times today. He said the
lagoons are covered with 1000's of ducks (more than he has ever seen
there)
and it makes it extremely difficult to find the
bird. He said if anyone is interested in seeing the bird on Friday to call
him tonight. He said that he would not go out early in the morning because
when it is diving
and feeding it is almost
impossible to pick out from the other ducks.
He also said that ice is staring to form around the
outside of the lagoons, and if it freezes over tonight they all may leave.
