Here's the "Big Sit" item as sent to the News-Press today. Please try to get something in your local papers if at all possible.

The 16th annual national/worldwide "Big Sit" is scheduled for Sunday, October 10th and Midland Empire Audubon is joining in.

The BIG SIT! is like a Big Day, or a "Bird-a-thon" in that the object is to tally as many bird species as can be seen or heard within 24 hours. The difference lies in the area limitation (a 17 foot diameter circle) from which you'll be allowed to observe and record your sightings.

THIS FREE EVENT IS OPEN TO EVERY INDIVIDUAL!  Men, women, families, kids. The Midland Empire Audubon "Big Sit" team circle for this year, will be located at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, at the observation tower. "Big Sit" birding  will begin at 12:01 AM Sunday, October 10 and continue until dark on that day. Come join the fun any time during the day.

All grown-ups and kids are welcome.
