Scott,

Yes, a few of us went to Fortescue about 1:30 p.m. today and also saw one BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCK.
We drove south (I believe) out of Fortescue on "P", and not far past the cemetery on the left side of the road we saw a pond, and at the far end of the pond as we continued south, we saw the duck at the water's edge. His beak was a brilliant, almost fluorescent pink/orange. What a gorgeous bird! (Hopefully I'll post pictures on Facebook later tonight.)

FYI, we also circled Squaw Creek Reservoir which was open again, and found two SANDHILL CRANES grazing in a mowed area. They were along the road that exits the wildlife refuge on the back side (towards Mound City).

Subject: Black-bellied Whistling Ducks in NW Mo?

Has anyone seen the BBWD today? I'm hoping to try for them early tomorrow morning?  Let me know if you tried for them and succeeded or failed. Thanks.
