First, my thanks to Leo Galloway for calling me about the Black-bellied Whistling Ducks near Fortescue, MO.
Georgia and I left St. Joseph at approx.10:55 am and at
11:45 am we were viewing 1 lone male...beautiful in very good light...took pictures while he preened, tucked his head under his wing until a pick-up drove by, and then seemed to just stand there posing. Certainly wasn't skittish. We tarried a while hoping the mate would show up, but no such luck.
I was just so glad to get this "lifer", I was satisfied with just seeing the male.

We had seen and photographed the earlier sighting of the BBWD that showed up in a neighborhood pond south of St.Joseph. By all of those of us who viewed that one, we agreed  it was an "escapee", because it showed little fear of humans, or cars going closely by.
Because I had never seen this specie until then, I was just very happy to see it, even though it was not the "wild" version.

But after this morning I can safely add this guy to my life list.

If you go for it, morning time is best for light/pictures. Would also advise parking at the cemetery, as farm equipment was on the road this am.
Good birding luck!

Keith, thanks for the update.  Everyone please keep the reports coming.  The earliest I can make it might be Thursday night.  Otherwise Saturday morning.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.  Beautiful pictures!
