There was a group of us, primarily from the Kansas City area, who met up southeast of Cole Camp, MO at the Big Buffalo Creek CA on Sunday, April 18. Highlights of the trip were a Scarlet Tanager and Chuck-will's-widow (that nearly dive-bombed Trent Reed); Yellow-throated and White-eyed Vireos; Eastern Kingbirds; Broad-winged and Red-shouldered Hawks; and Nashville, Yellow-throated, and Blue-winged Warblers, not to mention dozens of Northern Parulas and several Ovenbirds and Louisiana Waterthrushes. The wildflowers were in full bloom, and we throughly enjoyed being led by Alan Branhagan, Director of Horticulture at Powell Gardens, who knew the names of every insect and plant along the way.  What a delightful spring day!
