Dear Kansas Birders–

With the state's first report of Hudsonian Godwit (HUGO) this year I wanted to pass along a message from Nathan Senner at his request. He is a graduate student studying the migratory movements of HUGOs using colored leg flags and satellite tagged birds. If anyone spots a flagged bird Nate would appreciate knowing. You can email him at

nrs57 AT cornell.edu

Some 1,000 birds were marked in three different colors depending on the place they were banded:

red flags (Chile)
green flags (Alaska)
white flags (Churchill)

Many thanks and good shorebirding.

Mike
