An American Bittern flew across Pintail Marsh at Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in St. Charles County this afternoon. The water in Ellis Bay is way up. In fact water levels are up throughout that area. Heron Pond has more water than I have ever seen before, but it doesn't have any mudflats. Unfortunatetly the road to the Ed and Pat Jones Conflunce St. Park remains closed, as does the road to the dam.
Only a few scaup sp. were in Ellis Bay, lots of coots and a dozen Pied-billed Grebes. The American White Pelicans continue to man the dam's walls in large numbers.
