Many birds are continuing at the yard feeders with the continuing cold weather, including good numbers of winter visitors like juncos and White-throated Sparrows along with some Purple Finches and Mourning Doves and a couple Fox Sparrows. A female Common Redpoll, a rare winter visitor, briefly visited a feeder on 2-4 and 2-10 (looking healthier this time!) and a Hairy Woodpecker too in mid-February. A couple of noisy Red-shouldered Hawks have been hanging around into mid-February. Large flocks of grackles and many starlings have been hitting the feeders, too.
